Hedgehoppers Model Flying Club was formed by a small group of experienced modellers in 1995. The major objective set by the founder members of Hedgehoppers Model Flying club were, and still are:-

• Promotion of the sport to the younger generation
• Promotion of the sport to novices of all ages
• Provision of an appropriate environment of advancement to all
• Building and flying of model aircraft
• Above all to have fun, safely

Hedgehoppers Model Flying Club site is located on the outskirts of the lovely village of Shalford, Essex.. We have an excellent flying strip of approximately 2 acres. The grass was grown from seed and is maintained to the highest standards. We believe this one of the best flying sites in the area. We have full planning permission for our activities issued by Braintree District council. The club has its own off the road car park.

Hedgehoppers Model Flying Club has a self imposed membership limit of thirty members, twenty senior and ten juniors. This limit has been endorsed by Braintree District Council as a condition of the planning approval for the flying site.The membership is taken from a broad cross section of the local community and covers the age range of seven to seventy five.

Hedgehoppers Model Flying Club is managed by a committee of four.
